Learn, do, earn with Dynamics 365 - Session 7

Author: Ana Demeny

In session 7 we talked about goals and we found a way to involve everyone, add more practice and gain confidence in our skills.

Goals in Dynamics 365

We talked about goals because I think they are basically a freebie Dynamics 365 comes with. Not many companies use this functionality, but a lot of companies would like to use it.

Initially, I thought this would be a quick 5-10 minutes run through, but after it took me about 40 minutes to setup a Goal structure, I realised this is just the trap other people might fall into, so I created a separate article with my take on Goals, so that you hopefully don't underestimate the work involved.

Practice makes perfect better

We have now covered most of the subjects we need for MB2-717. In theory, everyone knows the curriculum so we should be able to pass the exam, but I wanted to get some practice as well. It was bugging me quite a lot, actually.

Throughout this programme, I’ve sent small assignments and showed people how to do stuff, but it still felt it wasn’t enough. Also, it was getting a bit too school like, so I tried starting a project we should all build together, but we all have different interests, and I believe we can only reach our potential if we can identify with our work and have fun while doing it. Before starting this project, I didn’t know how hard it would be to share knowledge without any face to face workshops. I knew I really wanted to accommodate everyone’s needs and be as little intrusive as possible but involve everyone at the same time.

In the following sessions, each of us is to prepare a presentation and demo for an area of their choice. I thought about this as I was trying to explain something at work and I realised this is something we have to do every day. I strongly believe you only know a subject if you can explain it to someone else.

Super Girls

As usual, the ladies’ response to this initiative has been great. Most of them responded within a day, with a subject they want to explore.

I know I say this a lot, but I can’t help it: Learn, do, earn participants are the best. These ladies have the right attitude. They attend every course, they do their tasks and seize every opportunity. They are challenging themselves and work hard for a new career.

They are an inspiration. All eyes on them.

Watch this space for their presentations.
